A big thank you to Claire Bunten and the team at Lab Architects for welcoming us aboard their office boat on the Thames for a CPD session on The Art of Specifying Natural Stone. We spent an enjoyable afternoon exploring the practicalities of working with natural stone, from sourcing and sustainability to detailing and installation — all while moored on the river, with swans drifting by and the city skyline in view. It’s always a pleasure to share knowledge in settings that encourage genuine dialogue and meaningful connections. Originally built in the 1820s, this former rectory has been sensitively reworked to bring balance, light and flow to every corner. A reconfigured stair forms the heart of the layout, unlocking a sense of ease and openness throughout. The new ground-floor extension blurs the boundaries between inside and out - connecting kitchen, dining and sitting areas to the garden and pool beyond.
